What a weekend for our Scottish athletes at the Glasgow European Open. Team GB finished second in the medal table, with nine medals (two gold, two silver and five bronze).

Four Scottish Judoka won podium places at the event - an amazing result in front of a home crowd.

On Saturday 6th October, Alex Short claimed the first Team GB gold of the competition, winning gold (-66kg)  after a massive Ippon against his Spanish opponent (Nieto Chinarro).

Josie Steele then carried on the winning streak by securing a her first gold (-57kg) on the Senior stage after some tough rounds in the competition.

On Sunday 7th October, Stuart McWatt won silver (-81kg), following on from his bronze three years ago at the same event. Finally, one of our youngest athletes at the competition, Emily Ritchie won bronze in +78kg on Sunday.

Huge congratulations to all 20 athletes who took to the mat over the weekend.
