Scottish Judoka Mark Taylor Finishes 7th at the 2017 Veterans World ChampionshipsPosted: 10/10/2017
Scottish Judoka Mark Taylor from Saltire Judo Club travelled to Olbia, Italy to compete in his second Veterans World Championships. Mark had a tough day of competition, however got off to a great start defeating his first opponent in 28 seconds.
Unfortunately Mark lost out on his second fight in golden score, however all was not lost as he progressed through to the repechage where he was able to defeat his Spanish opponent. Mark, now in the bronze medal fight faced a tough French opponent who he was unable to defeat. Although not the result he was hoping for Mark was able to finish an incredible 7th, an outstanding result for just his second Veterans World Championships.
Mark commented; “I hope to continue to improve on International results and look forward to a busy 2018 and to the Veterans European Championships in Glasgow then the World Championships in Mexico. As well as raising the profile of Masters Judo in Scotland and encouraging others to continue at a competitive level.”
