The Gathering received ‘Best educational seminar’ from the EJU in 2017 and in 2018 went on to deliver a bigger and better event.

The Gathering itself is a fantastic way of getting new ideas and inspiration for coaches and players alike, but is once a year enough? How many coaches have time to practice themselves? It is hard work and a lot of dedication running a club and JudoScotland recognise that we need to continue to strive for technical excellence so coaches can continue to develop talented individuals within their clubs.

As a result, we are delighted to have launched ‘The Gathering Technical Excellence Sessions’. To do this we have recruited the assistance of a number of our top coaches and players to deliver a consistent message of excellent fundamental judo. Attending two of these sessions will count as one revalidation credit.

Last night (Monday 29th January 2019), Takafumi Kitahara, JudoScotland Assistant High Performance Coach and a graduate of Tsukuba University, kicked off our session programme.

Our next session will be led by Olympic Silver medallist Gemma Burton on 11th March 2019 at EICA-Ratho. Read more here
