The Glasgow Get a Grip of Judo Games

Posted: 18/03/2015

After the cancellation of the European Championships Judoscotland and the Glasgow area local authorities have come together to continue to deliver on the development activities that were originally planned to take place alongside the championships.  The new ‘Glasgow Get a Grip of Judo Games’ will take place at the world class Emirates Arena, on the 10 and 11 April, and will hopefully attract up to 1000 new participants to the sport.

The ‘Glasgow Get a Grip of Judo Games’ is already underway with a regional school engagement programme where judo development officers in conjunction with active schools introduce children to judo during standard PE lesson time.  All children who enjoy the class will then have the opportunity to sign up to the ‘Glasgow Gets a grip of judo Game’s.

The ‘Glasgow Get a Grip of Judo Games’ will host a range of free activities and judo games that children and parents can take part in.  On the Saturday the 11th there is a free master class for judoscotland members only, with Commonwealth team Coaches David Somerville and Billy Cusack. This exclusive free event is open to the first 100 applications.

JudoScotland have been working hard building relationships with the local authorities and active schools co-ordinators and we are thrilled that the event will still go ahead and that members who had travel planned to the region can benefit from the activities that we are putting on.
