Another busy weekend for JudoScotland Judoka both home and away…
Grand-Prix Zagreb 2017
This weekend saw two JudoScotland senior athletes, Sarah Adlington (+78kg) and Stuart McWatt (-81kg), compete at the IJF World Tour Zagreb Grand-Prix.
Sarah Addligton came a strong 5th in the +78kg category. She started the day with a win against Mariia Shekerova of Russia, however lost her second fight to Nami Inamore of Japan. However this wasn’t the end for Sarah as she dropped into the repechage, where she beat Hungary’s Emese Karpati, unfortunately this was the last win of the day as she was beaten in the bronze medal fight by France’s Anne Fatoumata M Bairo.
It was a strong start to the day for Stuart McWatt, winning his first two fights against Brazils Vinicius Panini and Frances Alpha Oumar Djalo, unfortunately he lost his third fight to Attila Ungvari of Hungary. It wasn’t over yet for Stuart as he dropped into the repechage, although this marked the end of his medal chances as he lost his next fight to Dominik Druzeta of Croatia.
British Masters & Minors
This weekend also saw the return of the British Masters & Minors Championship, this year it was The Welsh Judo Assocaition turn to host. A number of Scottish Judoka travelled to Wales for this prestigious event and were rewarded with a number of medals.

Granite City Open
Saturday saw the final JudoScotland Grand Prix of 2017 in Aberdeen with the Granite City Open. The event which is run by Aberdeen Judo Club saw circa 300 competitors compete for Grand Prix points for the last time in 2017.
