Postponed - JudoGirlsRock: The FestivalPosted: 28/02/2020
In light of the current announcements by the Westminster Government, Scottish Government and NHS Scotland that “everyone in the UK should now avoid non-essential travel and contact with others”, JudoScotland had no alternative other than to take the decision to postpone this Festival.
The wellbeing, health and safety of all judoka, coaches and volunteers continues to be at the forefront of our thoughts and therefore – against the current background – we could not in all conscience proceed with the staging of the Festival.
The postponing of the event was not a decision taken lightly and we will look to reschedule the ‘JGR Festival’ at the very earliest opportunity and we look forward to welcoming you all at a later date.
All bookings/reservations will be honoured and participants will be contacted when a future date for this event has been finalised.
To register a place on the waiting list, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your membership number, name and contact details.
As a celebration of our recent #JudoGirlsRock (JGR) programme JudoScotland are hosting JudoGirlsRock: The Festival at Xcite Craigswood Sports Centre, Livingston on Sunday 29 March. The Festival will be hosted by our Development team and we will be joined by the club coaches from JGR clubs who will deliver a jumbo session of fun, activities and challenges alongside our three fantastic ambassadors:
Sally Conway – Olympic, World & European medallist
Josie Steele – 2018 Glasgow European Open Champion, 2019 British Champion
Rachel Tytler – 2019 Commonwealth Tournament Champion, British Squad Member
This year’s programme saw 9 judo clubs receive funding from the Scottish Government’s Women and Girls Fund to introduce women and girls to the amazing sport of judo and this year’s Festival will bring these female judoka from Carnegie, Focus, Jidel Judo 93, Just-Judo, Judo Club Esprit, Lochaber, Movement Park, Edinburgh University and Strathclyde University together with young judoka from across Scotland for a sessions to remember!
The session will consist of:
- Learn from the best – see and try the techniques used by our 3 JGR Ambassadors;
- Q & A – Hear about how they started judo and what it was like for them as a girl as they progressed from beginner to Champion;
- Physical and technical challenges – win cool prizes by completing our exciting challenges.
- Fun – mix with others from different clubs, share stories and play judo!
- All participants will receive an exclusive #JudoGirlsRock metal water bottle, featuring the signature of our very own Sally Conway!
