Our Technical Excellence sessions are back for 2020 with David Somerville leading our first course of the year. Sydney Olympian David was the first Scottish player to medal at the illustrious Jigaro Kano Cup in Japan and went on to become the High Performance Coach for JudoScotland when they won an incredible 13 medals at Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

What are our Technical Excellence Sessions all about?
Our experts all have their specialty techniques that propelled them onto the world stage but the key to all of the techniques that will be shared is the excellent understanding of fundamental movement within their judo practice.

The sessions will give you the tools that will allow you to build your technical knowledge and further develop your understanding of judo principles. They're very much focused on the process of building the techniques and not the end result; if you have good processes you will have a good product.

Come along to the sessions and take part in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The sessions are aimed at coaches and by attending two of the sessions a coach gains a revalidation credit.  Not a coach? Don't worry! The sessions are open to everyone in the same way the Gathering operates, so we're happy to have 13 years + attending the sessions.
