First Minister Update: Wednesday 7 October 2020

Posted: 07/10/2020

Like myself, many members will have been watching or listening to the update provided by the First Minister earlier today, including the announcement of further COVID-related restrictions within Scotland over the forthcoming weeks.

As was intimated by the First Minister, there are enhanced restrictions for the central belt covering members living in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Lanarkshire, Forth Valley, Lothian and Ayrshire and Arran health board areas. I would urge all members to please follow these restrictions for their own and their families’ health, safety and well-being.

Arising from the update provided – and specifically for Judo – it was intimated that “contact sports for people aged 18 and over will be suspended for the next two weeks”.

The update also highlighted that “indoor group exercise activities will not be allowed – although the current rules will remain in place for under 18s.” We are currently in contact with our partners at sportscotland and the Scottish Government and seeking clarification as to this aspect of today’s briefing and will update the JudoScotland guidance once we receive clarification.
