Josie Steele Selected to Represent GBPosted: 20/08/2019
British Judo has announced the team for the Junior European Judo Championships to be held in Vantaa, Finland from 12-15th September. Within the 8-strong team, JudoScotland athlete Josie Steele has been selected to represent Great Britain in the -57kg category at this year’s event.
Steele has had a strong season thus far, picking up medals in her last 5 major competitions including gold in Berlin and silver in Paks. It’s been a successful 18 months for the athlete; she became the youngest winner in the history of the European Open in Glasgow last year, in addition to winning gold at the British u21 Championships in Sheffield.
Speaking of her selection, Steele said: “I'm obviously delighted to be selected for the Junior European Judo Championships and I'm really looking forward to fighting. I’ve had a good year so far and feel my judo has progressed with each competition. I believe that if I deliver my best performance I can come away with a good result on the day”.
The competition runs from the 12-14th September and will see 319 competitors from 41 countries compete for glory.
All at JudoScotland would like to wish Josie the best of luck.
