Takafumi is a Masters graduate in Physical Education from the internationally renowned Tsukuba University, an establishment which is ranked in the Top 10 academic Universities in Japan. As a competitor Takafumi was ranked among the top -60kg athletes in Japan, however upon graduating he decided focus on coaching.
Prior to his appointment with JudoScotland, Takafumi worked as an Assistant Coach at Tsukuba University which has consistently produced World and Olympic medallists, including 4 Gold medals at the 2010 World Championships. In addition to his work within the Tsukuba University judo programme Takafumi has delivered coaching on a number of international training programmes across Asia and Europe.
