These are indeed strange and challenging times for all of us.

On Wednesday of this week, the First Minister outlined dates for the further easing of lockdown restrictions as part of the Scottish Government ‘route map’ process. JudoScotland welcomes the First Minister’s announcement in terms of the latest planned moves through the route map process and the clear commitment of the Scottish Government to re-start both community and performance sport when it is safe to do so

Whilst several of the positive measures announced will have a direct impact on sport and physical activity, regrettably at this time judoka will not be returning to the dojo quite yet.

Your health and safety and that of your family continue to be the priority. Collectively, we continue to be in Phase Two of the Scottish Governments ‘route map’ and we would urge all members to continue to adhere to the current public health guidance and the recently published JudoScotland ‘Return to Sport (Phase 2) guidance document.

For those member clubs wishing to implement the Phase 2 guidance issued recently by JudoScotland, the framework continues to comply with Scottish Government guidelines and furthermore satisfies our insurers requirements, on the basis that appropriate risk management has taken place to take Government restrictions into consideration.

JudoScotland remains committed to working with Scottish Government, sportscotland, local partners and other SGBs to progress further plans for the return of sport when it is safe to do so as part of future phases of the route map.

Yours in Judo

Ronnie Saez
