Scottish Government Update: 17 November 2020

Posted: 17/11/2020

Many JudoScotland members will have followed the update provided by the Scottish Government earlier today with regard to its ‘Strategic Framework’ (Tier System).

For some local authorities and member Clubs operating within them, there was welcome news in terms of a progression down the Scottish Government ‘tier-system’ (from Level 3 to Level 2) from next Tuesday 24 November 2020, encompassing:

  • East Lothian and;
  • Midlothian.

The following local authorities – and member Clubs operating within them – have now been re-designated into Level 4 of the Scottish Government’s Strategic Framework, from 1800 hours, on Friday 20 November 2020:

  • The City of Glasgow;
  • Renfrewshire;
  • East Renfrewshire;
  • East Dunbartonshire;
  • West Dunbartonshire;
  • North Lanarkshire;
  • South Lanarkshire;
  • East Ayrshire;
  • South Ayrshire;
  • Stirling and;
  • West Lothian.

We would therefore ask JudoScotland member Clubs that operate within these specific local authority areas to please visit the JudoScotland website and the “Five Tier Guidance for Judo-in-Scotland” (here) to confirm the implications for Judo-delivery within these areas of this decision.

Following the receipt of further guidance from sportscotland concerning travel guidance, we have updated our ‘Return to Sport’ reference document in advance of the revised guidance coming into force (version 17 November 2020) and accessible here. The specific updates to this document (from the previous version) are highlighted in yellow for ease of reference.

Additional support continues to be available by contacting a member of JudoScotland staff:

  • Sam Ingram, Regional Development Officer e:; m: 07738 846529
  • Luke Struthers, Regional Development Officer e:; m: 07738 846527
  • Tony Penfold, Head of Business Delivery e:; m: 07949 888074

We anticipate the ‘Tier’ levels being reviewed by the Scottish Government on or around 26 November. In advance of any further announcements or updates, we would urge all JudoScotland Clubs and their members to continue to adhere to the current public health guidance from the Scottish Government.
