Update from the JudoScotland Chairman - 31st July 2020

Many members will have seen or read the update provided by the First Minister yesterday, with regards to the review of the Scottish Government’s route map.

The reality is that we continue to be frustrated in that the sport of Judo has yet to return to Scotland. That said, we now have an indicative date of 14 September, when indoor facilities may re-open and we can begin to plan our return to the tatami.

Following the announcement by the First Minister, last night we received more detailed guidance. Based on receiving this updated guidance, JudoScotland will be submitting an updated ‘Return to Sport’ document to sportscotland for ratification later today

With the current media coverage around re-imposed restrictions around the world, public health and wellbeing remains the most pressing priority for us all and we collectively have a responsibility to do what we can to continue to suppress the spread of the virus and to prevent a potential second wave.

Myself, the Board and the staff are committed to working with the Scottish Government, sportscotland and our wider partners to progress plans for the return of sport and physical activity as soon as it is safe to do so.

Ronnie Saez,

Chairman
