SUMMARY:UKAD Parent Clean Sport Session (Online)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”114450″] \n\nParents play a crucial role in ensuring their child stays clean in sport. Research shows that parental support influences athletes’ commitment to clean sport values. Since athletes face many challenges\, parents can help them handle setbacks and external pressures. \n\n\nUnder Anti-Doping Rules\, athletes are responsible for any prohibited substances in their system\, even unintentionally. Parents must also follow regulations\, such as avoiding giving supplements containing banned substances or interfering with anti-doping procedures. \n\n\nTo better understand these responsibilities and how to support clean sport\, we are working with UKAD to provide an online Clean Sport session for parents and coaches. \n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_button button_color=”color-574589″ border_width=”0″ link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fjudoscotland.justgo.com%2FWorkbench%2Fi%2Fr%2FEventsAndBookings%2Fdetails%2F3E05427430F8480F6A67C84A46D3ABB789120107|target:_blank” button_color_type=”uncode-palette” icon=”fa fa-ticket2″ uncode_shortcode_id=”614559″]Book Event [/vc_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:PVG Update Session (22nd March)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”492652″]From the 1st of April 2025\, Disclosure Scotland will be implementing a new law\, the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. \nThe Act aims to improve Scotland’s disclosure system by reducing unnecessary barriers for individuals with convictions when seeking employment or other opportunities. It will also strengthen the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. \nThis change in legislation will mean that there will be some changes for judo clubs and for JudoScotland around the PVG scheme. As an organisation\, we are consulting with Volunteer Scotland to determine what these changes will be for judo clubs\, and are confident that we will all once again adapt to the changes and continue to promote safe environments for our members. \nJudoScotland have worked with Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services to arrange two online information sessions\, with an opportunity to ask questions\, specifically for judo clubs to attend. \nThese sessions will be led by Wendy McBeth\, Compliance and Training Officer at Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services and will last approx. 1 hour. \nJudoScotland strongly recommend judo clubs to have a representative at one of the two sessions to help make sure that clubs have everything in place to protect the most vulnerable people in our judo community and comply legally with the Act. \n  \n\nThursday 20th March – 7.00pm\nSaturday 22nd March – 10.00am\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_button border_width=”0″ link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fjudoscotland.justgo.com%2FWorkbench%2Fi%2Fr%2FEventsAndBookings%2Fdetails%2F99000263D759043A3B2A257952AE2C9BAF5B6360|target:_blank” uncode_shortcode_id=”678705″]Book Your Space Here[/vc_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]

On average it should take around 30 minutes to complete the module and you MUST complete this module before attending Module 2. \nBy the end of module 1 learners will be able to: \n\nUnderstand what is meant by ‘child wellbeing and protection’\nRecognise the value of a child-centred approach to child wellbeing and protection\nIdentify good practise in relation to child wellbeing and protection and how this impacts the sports environment\nRecognise the legislative and policy framework around child wellbeing and protection\nIdentify and respond to possible child wellbeing or protection concerns\nIdentify the limits of your safeguarding role and know when to get support\n\nModule 2 \nA 3 hour face-to-face training course led by one of sportscotland’s approved tutors.  Learners must complete both modules to gain the qualification and receive their certificate.  Due to COVID19 restrictions Module 2 can be delivered virtually.  The Approved Tutor list indicates which tutors are able to deliver virtually. \nBy the end of module 2 learners will: \n\nBe introduced to the Spectrum of Practice and use it to consider\, evaluate and respond to common coaching scenarios\nReceive an introduction to the factors that create a culture of poor practice\nIdentify barriers to disclosure\nCover the process for responding to concerns\nPut the responding to concerns process into practice to deal with serval complex cases\n\nAccess to module 1: Brightspace \nsportscotland has recently developed a new registration and certification process using a virtual learning environment – “Brightspace”. \nWhen you book onto a CWPS course through JudoScotland\, you will then be given access to Brightspace. This is where you will complete Module 1. When using Brightspace this can only be accessed on Chrome /Safari/Firefox browsers. Internet explorer browser is no longer supported. \nCertificates \nOnce you have completed module 1 and attended module 2\, your Tutor will approve the release of your certificate.
