SUMMARY:Kata Weekend with Sensei Yoshihiko Iura
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”138437″]We are thrilled to announce the return of Sensei Yoshihiko Iura\, who will once again lead an exceptional weekend of kata coaching in Largs. Last year’s event sold out quickly\, so don’t miss your chance—book your place today! \nSensei Iura is a world-renowned kata expert\, Kodokan coach\, and 8th Dan. This year\, he will share his extensive knowledge in Nage no Kata and Kime no Kata. If you’re passionate about these kata\, this event is an unmissable opportunity to learn from one of the best. \nTickets are available for: \n\nA full residential weekend\nA two-day pass\nA one-day pass\n\nEach day includes lunch and the invaluable expertise of Sensei Iura. Attendance certificates will be provided\, fulfilling the requirements of Section 9 of the BJA Technical Dan Grade Syllabus. \nThis course is open to all senior judoka. To maximise your learning experience\, we recommend bringing a practice partner you are comfortable working with. Please note that a white judogi is mandatory for kata practice. \nFor high-graded players\, wearing a black belt during the course is encouraged to maintain proper etiquette. There will also be opportunities to discuss kata qualifications during the course\, with examinations typically held at National Gradings. \nDon’t miss this incredible opportunity to deepen your understanding of kata with one of the world’s leading experts—secure your spot now! \nAlthough this course is suitable for coach revalidation\, it is suitable for any judoka open to self improvement and provides information to help successfully complete a judoka’s Dan grade theory. Our National Head Performance Coach Euan Burton MBE recently took part in a kata course with the IJF and commented\, \n“I thoroughly enjoyed my experience of kata during the IJF Academy coaching course. The kata practice really promoted a deep focus on the technical fundamentals of breaking balance\, correct positioning\, and control of the throw. I also enjoyed the element of teamwork that was required between uke and tori in order to most positively display each demonstration”.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_button border_width=”0″ link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fjudoscotland.justgo.com%2Fworkbench%2Fpublic%2Fevents%3Fref%3DF3EF839F750B96C69725F07982E62226FCE538CF|target:_blank” uncode_shortcode_id=”155364″]Click Here to Book Your Space[/vc_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Kata weekend with Sensei Iura 8th Dan
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”479826″] \nInterested in improving your technical knowledge and ability\, would you like to know more about developing your own judo. Kata has a fundamental place in all judokas development and is an integral part of Kano’s teachings\, kata will hone your technical understanding and application of the technique whilst the randori (not contest training) will challenge and test the skill you have learned. \nIn 2024 we are investing in the technical expertise of Sensei Yoshihiko Iura\, Sensei Iura is a Kodokan 8th Dan is considered a kata expert by many across the world. Over the weekend we will be covering Koshiki no Kata and also Ju no Kata\, links to both katas are below. Attendance certificates will be issued which satisfy section 9 of the BJA technical dan grade syllabus. \nThis course is suitable for all senior judoka\, it would be advantageous to bring a partner you are comfortable working with to get the most from the course and the wearing of a white judogi is compulsory for kata practice. Opportunities to obtain a kata qualification can be discussed on the course and generally kata examinations are held at National Gradings. Any high graded players are asked to wear their black belt during the course to keep in line with course etiquette. \nLunch will be provided during the course and an option for residential is available. I also enjoyed the element of teamwork that was required between uke and tori in order to most positively display each demonstration”. \nWhy not get a head start and check out the links below: \nKodokan kata info \nKata videos \nKata resources \n[/vc_column_text][vc_button button_color=”color-574589″ border_width=”0″ link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fjudoscotland.justgo.com%2Fworkbench%2Fpublic%2Fevents%3Fref%3DA00EB7397FB29F36199641C33EF1E60578A30D59|target:_blank” button_color_type=”uncode-palette” uncode_shortcode_id=”178738″]Book Here[/vc_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]

YES \nIs the Gathering open to any judoka over the age of 14? YES \nIs this year going to be one of the best JudoScotland has ever put on? OH YES \nWe are back with a bang with this year’s Gathering which promises to be one of our very best. We have had some of the judo greats in world judo\, Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki\, Hidetoshi Nakanishi\, Darcel Yandzi\, Go Tsunoda\, Tomoko Fukumi and Hiroshi Katanishi. We haven’t even mentioned any of the homegrown talents we have had on the mat such as Loretta\, Chloe\, Euan\, Graeme\, Stuart\, and the list goes on and on and on. \nThis year we have the pleasure of welcoming to Scotland Three-time World Champion\, Double Olympic medalist\, Five-time All Japan Champion\, Grand Slam Champion in Paris\, Tokyo & Osaka and Grand Prix Champion in Dusseldorf (twice) and in Abu Dhabi and this is only the gold medals!! MASASHI EBINUMA. \nMasashi will be joined on the mat by his wife Kana (Abe) Ebinuma who is two time World Team Champion\, two time All Japan Champion\, three times Grand Slam Champion and IJF World Masters Champion. \nWe are also delighted to be in a position to be able to welcome back Britain’s most highly decorated male competitor\, ‘The Voice of Judo’ Mr Neil Adams MBE 9th Dan. Neil has been working with a select group of coaches throughout the year in our first-ever JudoScotland Coach Academy. Neil will be back on the mat sharing some of his golden nuggets for you to take away over the weekend. \nGreg Valentine\, as the lead physical preparation coach for JudoScotland and the sportscotland institute of sport. Greg will be leading a session on the exercises and techniques that coaches need to know to prepare athletes for their journey into performance judo. Based on years of research and experience Greg will take us through the physical components of the brand new JudoScotland Blueprint\, the Player Development Pathway. \nFollowing on from his successful session in 2021 we are welcoming back Dr Andy Dalziell\, Andy is a child development specialist\, he co-designed the Better Movers & Thinkers programme that Education Scotland have embedded within their physical education programmes. Andy will be taking us on a practical follow-up to his interesting online session\, so be prepared to be challenged and have your brain engaged so you can take some new thinking away on your approach to teaching children. \nIf you sign up for the full weekend you will receive overnight accommodation within a twin room\, lunch\, evening meal on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday as well as some top-class judo. If you can only make it along for one day\, please choose one of our day passes; on Saturday this includes lunch. Any judoka over 14 but under 18 can take advantage of the non-residential weekend pass or day passes\, if you want to book the full residential you must be accompanied and be responsible to a full paying adult\, for example\, your coach. This is due to alcohol being available during the evening meal for those aged 18 years and above. \nDue to the popularity of this event\, we have now sold out of residential spaces\, however\, we still have a limited number of weekend and day tickets available. Largs has a number of local offsite accommodation options so that you can still make the most of The Gathering 2022. A list can be found below. \n[vc_button button_color=”color-152459″ border_width=”0″ link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.judoscotland.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2022%2F08%2FHotel-and-BB-List-Website.pdf|target:_blank” button_color_type=”uncode-palette” uncode_shortcode_id=”187892″ icon=”fa fa-cloud-download2″]Accommodation List[/vc_button] \n  \n[vc_button button_color=”color-574589″ border_width=”0″ link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fjudoscotland.justgo.com%2FWorkbench.mvc%2FShow%2F6%3Fref%3D81A5B3B3E066EE7FB8460C6035D7F56D01CCD7C5|target:_blank” button_color_type=”uncode-palette” icon=”fa fa-ticket2″ uncode_shortcode_id=”522127″]Book Your Space[/vc_button]
