JudoScotland is the sportscotland recognised governing body for the Olympic sport of Judo within Scotland. Founded in 1988 JudoScotland celebrated it's twenty-first birthday in 2009. JudoScotland represents Scottish Judoka (judo players), coaches, officials, supports, clubs and also elite judoka of the National Squad.
Following the awarding of the Olympic games to London (2012), the commonwealth game to Glasgow (2014) JudoScotland recognised the unique opportunity that now exists for sport – and across sport- in the United Kingdom, Scotland and more specifically for Judo in Scotland. Recognising this once on a lifetime combination of factors and opportunities becoming available to sport as we move forward, JudoScotlands aspirations for the period though to 2014 can be summarised in the Izou 2014 Strategic Plan as:
Win
Build Scottish pride in our judoka, our coaches, programmes and our system through international success and Olympic, Paralympic, World Cup, world Championships, European championships and Commonwealth Games competition.
Grow
To offer every primary school child in Scotland the opportunity to pull on a judo jacket, tie a belt and score a point.
Develop
Provide athletes at all levels of competition the opportunity to experience our sport and to develop as good judoka, good citizens and advocates of sport.
Value
Recruit, develop, enhance and value volunteers.
