Keizoku is back for 2024! A Judo Event for Judoka aged 5 – 12 years looking to take the first (or even second) step outside the club.

Keizoku introduces subtle changes to the more traditional judo event to provide a more ‘age and stage’ appropriate environment in line with the JudoScotland Player Development Framework so that young judoka can enjoy the thrill of competing, the challenge of doing their best and the enjoyment of playing sport.

Event Type:         A developmental event for Judoka with limited event experience

Closing Date

  • Wednesday 23rd November 2024 12.00 (Noon)
  • JudoScotland are trying to provide opportunities for as many members as possible, but the entry may have to close early if the event gets so busy that the event experience may be affected.

Age Bands:         

  • AAA Band – Year Born 2019 (5y) 2018 (6y) 2017 (7y) (Must be 5 years old on day of event)
  • AA Band – Year Born 2016 (8y) 2015 (9y) 2014 (10y).(Must be 8 years old on day of event)
  • A Band – Year Born 2013 (11y) 2012 (12y)

Weight Categories:

  • All children will be weighed on the day at their designated check in time.

Check In:

  • Check in times will be emailed to all participants after the closing date.

Format:

  • Judoka will be grouped in 4/5 within their age and weight groups .
    • All judoka (judo player) will be guaranteed a designated mat time.
    • The contest time with be 2 minutes.
    • First ippon wins but will not end the contest; this is to allow maximum mat time for the judoka (except for the referees/coaches’ decision).
  • As well as time on the mat, developing their technical judo ability, judoka will also rotate through the physical challenge station and behavioural challenges in line with JudoScotland Player Development Framework.

What you need:

  • All judoka must have a full valid JudoScotland membership
  • A Judogi (judo suit) is required for this event.
  • A round neck white T-shirt to wear under your judo suit when you weigh- in
  • Suitable footwear to wear when off the mat.
  • A filled water bottle.
  • Keep up to date with event information by downloading Telegram.

Eligibility and Rules:

  • This is a development event for young judoka, new officials, and new referees.
  • No penalties, referees will openly encourage positive discussion with players throughout the event as required.

Reward and Recognition:

  • All judoka will receive a certificate and a prize based on both effort and accomplishment.
  • Certificates and prizes will be given out once the group has been completed.

Exclusive Event T-shirt:

  • Children £12.50 sizes – 5/6, 7/8, 9/11, 12/13, 14/15.
  • Adults £14.00 sizes – Small, Medium, Large, XL, 2XL
  • Event T-shirts fees are non-refundable.
  • Collection from JudoScotland event reception on the day of the event.

Matside Pass:

  • All coaching will be in a relaxed fashion and we ask all coaches to encourage all judoka at every opportunity, allowing the judoka to enjoy the event experience.
  • Coaches looking to register for a matside pass need to be  able to provide evidence that they have all the relevant coaching qualification and that they have been uploaded on to your JudoScotland profile.

Photography & Videography:

  • Photography and video recording of activities may take place at this event; photographs may also be taken for promotional purposes including publication on websites and social media.
  • By entering this event, you indicate your acceptance of these conditions and parents (in the absence of any expressed objection) provide their consent to taking and use of photos/videos.

  • We will use the information provided at time of booking so that we can:
    • Process your entry or booking onto a course, event or competition and communicate with you in relation to your attendance at the event.

This event is aimed at Judoka in the sampling stage that are looking to take their first (or even second) step out of the club environment. This festival is designed with the child’s stage in mind providing fun on and off-the-mat challenges to develop their judo.  If you are unsure, it is suitable for you, please speak to your coach.
