PVG Update Session (22nd March)

From the 1st of April 2025, Disclosure Scotland will be implementing a new law, the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
The Act aims to improve Scotland’s disclosure system by reducing unnecessary barriers for individuals with convictions when seeking employment or other opportunities. It will also strengthen the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
This change in legislation will mean that there will be some changes for judo clubs and for JudoScotland around the PVG scheme. As an organisation, we are consulting with Volunteer Scotland to determine what these changes will be for judo clubs, and are confident that we will all once again adapt to the changes and continue to promote safe environments for our members.
JudoScotland have worked with Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services to arrange two online information sessions, with an opportunity to ask questions, specifically for judo clubs to attend.
These sessions will be led by Wendy McBeth, Compliance and Training Officer at Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services and will last approx. 1 hour.
JudoScotland strongly recommend judo clubs to have a representative at one of the two sessions to help make sure that clubs have everything in place to protect the most vulnerable people in our judo community and comply legally with the Act.
