A brief update from the JudoScotland Chair, Marc Preston, on activity in September;

Hi all

Here’s a brief update from me for the month of September.

The month got underway on 1st September, when Judith and I had a good, lengthy catch-up on Teams. There was plenty to discuss, including upcoming developments and events planned for the month ahead.

On 12th September, the final Grand Prix of the year took place,  the Highland Budokan. It was great to hear it was another busy day of judo and to round off this year’s Grand Prix circuit.

Then, on 19th September, we were delighted to welcome World Champion and double Olympic medallist Neil Adams to Ratho for a Masterclass. It was fantastic to see such a great turnout and everyone making the most of the opportunity to learn from one of judo’s very best.

Later that day, I had the pleasure of catching up with Neil and his wife Niki, herself a top-class judoka, over dinner at a pasta restaurant in Linlithgow. It was a brilliant evening and great to spend some time together away from the mat!

The following day, we met up again for a long walk in the Pentlands before heading to an event at Lauriston Castle in Edinburgh, where we enjoyed a wonderful Japanese performance and dance troupe. We rounded off the day with a pub lunch. A busy weekend, but a really enjoyable one and it was fantastic to catch up with them both.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the Macmillan Coffee Morning on 23rd September, but I heard it went really well. It’s always lovely to see everyone coming together to support such a worthwhile cause.

It has also been fantastic to start hearing some of the stories coming out of this summer’s Summer of Sport activity within our clubs, and to see the positive impact it is having across the judo community.

As we now head into a very busy period for judo events, I’m looking forward to catching up with many of you at The Gathering and the AGM at the Glasgow International Arena at the end of October.
