This past weekend, we were delighted to welcome more than 200 judoka to the Emirates Arena in Glasgow for an unforgettable weekend of learning at The Gathering 2026.

Following a standout event in 2025, JudoScotland was thrilled to welcome Tato Grigalashvili back to Scotland for his second Gathering appearance, fresh from securing his fourth World Championship title. While Lasha Shavdatuashvili was unfortunately unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, Tato more than rose to the occasion, delivering another exceptional masterclass that showcased the dynamic and explosive style of Georgian judo.

Across the weekend, Tato demonstrated that his coaching ability is every bit as impressive as his competitive achievements. Through detailed technical sessions, practical demonstrations and hands-on coaching, he worked closely with participants to help refine their skills and understanding of technique. A particular highlight was his commitment to engaging with as many judoka as possible, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to learn from one of the world’s very best.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Leo Goginashvili, Luka Gigilashvili, Lucas Losebashvili, and Nikoloz Shengelia from Palavani Judo Club for their translation support and assistance throughout the weekend.

We hope everyone enjoyed the experience and left inspired, with new skills, ideas and motivation to take back to their clubs. Thank you to all who attended and helped make The Gathering 2026 such a memorable event!
