Fantastic to see friendships flourishing at Garioch Judo with the help of the Bring A Friend campaign!
More than just a recruitment strategy for clubs, strengthening community is at the heart of the Bring A Friend initiative, and it’s great to already see new faces being welcomed onto the mat at clubs up and down the country. For new participants, arriving with someone they know can make that first step into sport feel much less daunting, and for those inviting a friend, it is a rewarding opportunity to share their passion for judo with someone important to them.
With support from sportscotland’s Summer of Sport fund, more than 2,000 personalised invitations have been sent to clubs across Scotland. Garioch Judo is among the clubs using the campaign to grow and strengthen its community.
Head Coach Stuart McWatt said: “JudoScotland’s Bring A Friend campaign has been a fantastic way for Garioch Judo Club to welcome new faces onto the mat. It gives our members the chance to share their love for judo with friends, helping new people feel comfortable, build confidence and experience the benefits of our sport in a friendly, supportive environment. It’s also helping us grow our club, strengthen friendships and show that judo is a sport for everyone. Sometimes all it takes is a friend to take that first step!”
It’s also great to see the campaign creating such positive experiences for young judoka and their friends. One young participant said:
“I really enjoyed bringing my friend to judo! It was fun getting to do something together, and it made me happy that they could try something I enjoy. We learned new things, played games and had lots of fun!”
